Social Equity is so significant in Illinois Cannabis law that it has its personal write-up, Write-up 7 of the new law.

“Social Equity Applicant” indicates an applicant that is an Illinois resident that meets a single of the following criteria:

(1) an applicant with at least 51% ownership and manage by a single or far more people who have resided for at least five of the preceding 10 years in a Disproportionately Impacted Region

(two) an applicant with at least 51% ownership and manage by a single or far more people who:

(i) have been arrested for, convicted of, or adjudicated delinquent for any offense that iseligible for expungement beneath this Act or

(ii) is a member of an impacted household

(three) for applicants with a minimum of 10 complete-time workers, an applicant with at least 51% of existing workers who:

(i) at present reside in a Disproportionately Impacted Region or

(ii) have been arrested for, convicted of, or adjudicated delinquent for any offense that is eligible for expungement beneath this Act or member of an impacted household.
