How To Grow Your Local Small Business Using PINTEREST

akeaways

  • Even local small business can use the online platform Pinterest.
  • Pinterest is free marketing, it is a search engine which enables you to market yourself by posting the content you’ve created for a specific topic.
  • Pinterest has certain features like other forms of social media but you really want to use Pinterest for the search engine feature. Pinterest also has a great relationship with Google and often times things that people pin for specific topics will also show up in Google searches.
  • You want to get in the head of your ideal client, ask yourself “what are they searching for?” And then you want to get specific with your search terms using language relevant to your specific topic.
  • Before you can start, you need to create some form of content that adds value to your ideal client whether that be a video on Facebook or a blog post.
  • Brand yourself in your business, people want to see more than just a logo. They want to know who is behind the service being provided so try and put some of your personality into your content and brand.
  • We use Canva.com which is free. They have a Pinterest template which allows you to select which one you want and then just add in your brand colors. Creating a pin is definitely something that you can do yourself but it also something that you can also outsource if you have too much on your plate.
  • If you plan on eventually outsourcing your pins, it would be helpful to have a decent amount of prior experience. In the end this just gives you a better understanding of the process and allows you to communicate better with the person you hire to handle this for you. It also gives you a better understanding of what to look for.
  • You can repurpose your content that you use on Pinterest on other platforms such as instagram and twitter. You may have to edit the dimensions of the picture to fit the format of a specific social media app.
  • Every business needs to have an email list. Especially in this day and age businesses need a way to connect with their customers online and let them know what is happening.
  • It is a good idea to offer incentives for people to sign up for your email list. This could be in the form of a free coupon or promise of your monthly newsletter.
  • You don’t want every email that goes out to your email list to be when you want to sell something. You can use automated emails to nurture your email list with informative emails on who you are and what you do, as well as deals and promotions.
